CSV Data Importer
From October 2007 schools who have records of assets in a spreadsheet such as Excel can import their data into Parago. Chris Breen, lead developer at Parago Software commented "schools that have spent time inputting asset data into a spreadsheet do not wish to spend time duplicating that work. The CSV Importer will allow them to have all the benefits of a complete asset management system whilst eliminating much of the workload."
ParagoMobile
Secondary schools and larger Primaries are opting for the ParagoMobile bar coding solution to make life easier for the storing and auditing of general assets. As Nigel Pressnell, Deputy Head of Arnewood School comments "Preparing the audit was, to put it mildly, nobody's favourite task. As well as the technicians weeks spending logging all ICT hardware and software, heads of department would be tasked with logging the non ICT equipment, everything from kettles to power drills." ParagoMobile now allows Arnewood School to automate audits for non ICT assets and merge with PC asset data from ParagoAgent to form one complete database.
"Software Licensing Laws Prompt School to Take Action"
With news that FAST (Federation against Software Theft) are stepping up their campaign to ensure schools are legally compliant, yet another administrative nightmare looms over Head Teachers and Bursars. With teacher and student laptop schemes seeming to make this task impossible more schools are turning to automated systems. With the ability to track computers in and out of school via the internet more schools are choosing Parago than any other system. Since its launch in January 2006, over 1000 schools have subscribed to Parago!
"Software Licence Manager Improvements"
As the pressure increases on schools to be keeping up-to-date records on software licensing, we have made improvements to the Licence Manager inline with school feedback.
Currently, all installed software on any PC can be printed in a software report. However, our current Licence Manager has a database with the 1200 most used software programmes and if any of the titles matches with the software on your PCs it will automatically tell the Licence Manager how many computers have these and where they are.
Schools have expressed their preference to choose which programs they wish to license manage. From November users will be able to do just that by simply selecting from the software report.
Another example of how we listen to schools…
More Flexible Reports:
Improvements to our report system will allow users to produce reports containing information based not only on their assets but information aggregated from the sub-products of assets. This will allow reports to not only list PCs but the amount of memory and harddrive capacity. Responding to feedback from our customers it will also make it easier to include the locations where assets are stored.
"More London Boroughs Choose Parago"
London Boroughs of Wandsworth and Tower Hamlets add themselves to the growing list of authorities adopting Parago as their chosen software and asset management system for schools. In July Wandsworth wrote to their schools recommending Parago following testing at two schools and the CLC (City Learning Centre). Subsequent training at the CLC was very well received and more schools are expected to adopt Parago in the autumn.
Parago Takes The Cayman Islands by Storm
No, it's not the name of the latest hurricane, the Ministry of Education in the Caymen Islands has purchased Parago and ParagoMobile for all it's schools. Unsurprisingly, we have several staff offering their services for on-site training! Unfortunately for them, GoToMeeting™ allows us to train any user online for only £75 per hour.
