Parago Newsletter - Summer 2008

Tim Roots, Director of Parago® Software Ltd welcomes you to the summer 2008 newsletter.

It's been an exciting 6 months, with an award winning start to 2008, a change of company name and relocation to a purpose built state-of-the-art office in the software capital of the UK, Reading.

We started with an ERA award for Supplier of the Year (see page 2). In conjunction with our impending move we have changed our company name. Since launching Parago, many of our customers have commented that they prefer the name 'Parago' to 'IT Vision'. Many a time has there been confusion over the company and product name!

In answer to this, IT Vision Ltd has become Parago Software Ltd. And with this comes a change of website address —

www.parago.co.uk

Now, whenever you are searching for the number one asset management system in education, you only need to remember one name…

On 14th July Parago Software Ltd relocates to:

9 The Aquarium
Reading
RG1 2AN

Parago Enhancements

There are some exciting developments for the second half of 2008 at Parago Software Ltd.

SAM improvements – These will allow a user to track software licence expiry via system alerts. Users will be able to import/export their software licence definitions.

Multiuser - This will allow the administrator to choose different levels of access for all users. In addition, it will include an Audit Trail.

Apple/Linux Agent – As the number of Apple Macs and computers running Linux continue to grow we have had requests for compatible Agents to discover all data from these workstations. (only available on Mac OSX 10.4.)

IMS – This is to be released in two phases. The first phase will allow basic features such as a 'Ticketing System,' allowing users to report and track issues with assets within the Parago system. Watch out for this in October.

Parago Crowned ERA Winner ‘Supplier of the Year’

ERA stated: "Parago deals with the new and innovative sector of software monitoring. We were impressed with how it involved teachers in this difficult area through training, newsletters and constant feedback to change the culture of schools."

Parago Broadens its Horizons in Norfolk

Norfolk LA has made its first move to monitor PCs being used out in the field. After extensive testing, Norfolk has subscribed to Parago as part of an ongoing project to keep track of what is installed on all mobile units.

Parago Sails via the Channel

Not content with being used in the Caribbean, Parago makes its first move into Europe. The British School of Paris has purchased Parago via one of our Channel Partners, Pearson Education. The school needed a system that was totally internet based and Parago was the obvious choice. The school purchased Parago and ParagoMobile to ensure effective management of all assets and produce accurate asset budget forecasts.

Train to Gain

Register for Parago online training in July, for just £50 an hour (normal £75).

It is so important that your school is fully aware of all the features of Parago. Having a clear understanding of how to use the system will guarantee effective and efficient software and general asset management. Furthermore, it will enable you to produce accurate 3 year budget forecasts.

Licence to Thrill

When Parago was first launched in 2006, the company offered an annual subscription to all of its customers. Due to customer demand Parago became available as a site license earlier this year.

Schools and LAs are now favouring this method of purchasing Parago.

Software Floods the Classrooms

Over the past few years schools have been swamped with curriculum software. It has been announced that this year's £50m allocation of eLearning Credits (eLCs) will bring the overall total of funding to £500m, since the Curriculum Online Project started in 2003.

Fact – With so much extra software it is not surprising that 90% of Parago schools comment that prior to purchasing Parago; they were not effectively managing their software. PC and software audits alone took approximately four weeks before Parago. This inevitably leads to over and under licensing.

Parago has automated these time consuming audits and our schools are now alerted to additional software being added to any PC in school, as well as teacher and student homes.

Schools are reporting huge savings and peace of mind since using Parago! Here’s just one quote from a Portsmouth Primary School –

"I would recommend Parago to anyone. As long as I use it regularly to update changes it means asset tracking is instant. Before we had it I tried to track software once but it took weeks and I never really completed it! I also love the way I can check machine specs from my desk!"
