Parago – Love me Tender
Swindon Borough Council chose Parago as its preferred asset management solution in a recent tender which was awarded to new reseller, Stone Computers. Swindon particularly wanted a fully web based system with data hosted off site.
'It was important that the asset management system we chose addressed the needs of all our schools,' commented Adam Glass, ICT PFI Project Manager at Swindon Borough Council. 'Early signs are showing that Parago is proving to be the right choice. Parago's ability to record and manage all IT, non-IT assets and software at an affordable price makes it highly cost effective. Long-term, we look to roll out Parago into all of our schools,' Adam added.

The Parago software has made the setting up of a brand new asset register from scratch a simple process.
Once the Parago agent has been installed on the network, the computer equipment registers itself every time it logs onto the network. It records any changes to software or hardware installed and sends an alert to my desktop to tell me this. It can also record all the warranty and service information and replacement costs.
The non-computer equipment/furniture is easily recorded, either by purchasing or printing barcode labels for them and using the hand held scanner.
Although an initial time commitment is required to set the system up, when it comes to an annual stock check, the process will be incredibly simple — it should be possible to audit a classroom in a very short amount of time, just by scanning each item into the hand held — this will register the item and its location. The reports will automatically tell us any items that are missing or have been moved to a different location.
And as it is web based and the information all stored off site, it can be accessed from any computer or location. It also ticks the boxes for the asset register being kept in a neutral location.
It is the simplest, most user friendly system that I have used for asset management and I highly recommend it.
