Oldham shows the way
With the launch of the “Home Access” initiative and the remaining CfP PCs being delivered to student homes attention again turns to how schools will cope with auditing these systems. Ahead of the pack is Oldham LA who appreciate how difficult this task will be for schools.
Carrying out regular audits to check that students are not installing inappropriate software or even just verifying they are being used is a task that would take immeasurable days for school ICT teams. In a recent survey of 12 Secondary schools we found most schools will have no way of carrying out these checks and will have to ignore e-safety guidelines. Like LA's such as Norfolk and Birmingham, Oldham will be alerted to any changes to PC and software specifications giving complete peace of mind.
