Power Consumption Calculator from Parago

The Parago power consumption calculator enables you to see the real world costs associated with your IT hardware. To access the calculator, click on the power consumption shortcut on the home screen.

Here you can see the cumulative total, as well as a breakdown for different IT assets. There are 3 columns; current, optimal and potential savings. Current is the calculation of CO₂, energy usage and cost based on the hardware running 24/7. Optimal calculates these 3 values based on your specific business hours. The business hours can be changed for each asset type, by selecting the number of days they are in use, and then the hours per day. This updates the optimal column automatically. The last column is potential savings. This is current usage minus optimal usage and shows you how much you can save for this particular asset.

While Parago estimates the number of each asset type that you have in your account and it's energy usage, you may wish to change these values. Each asset type has both a quantity and a typical energy usage field. Altering these will change the calculations accordingly.

Finally, you can alter the cost per kilowatt hour and CO₂ emitted per kilowatt. These are currently based on the UK average and can vary over time. Altering these values will update all sections accordingly.
