Parago Mobile (Transcript)
ParagoMobile is a portable method of accessing the Parago asset management system from multiple locations. It allows assets to be easily identified by scanning Barcode labels and enables you to quickly move assets around your account and perform audits as well as adding PAT testing information to all the assets within a location.
The ParagoMobile system downloads your asset data and stores it to allow you to make modifications to your account. Once you have finished, it then uploads the changes, and synchronises itself with the web based Parago database system. This can be done when the ParagoMobile device is connected to a PC or via a wireless network. You then have the benefits of the Parago database system as detailed on the ParagoMobile webpage and shown in all the other videos.
The ParagoMobile application looks and works in a very similar way to the regular Parago system. Once the application has been started you must sign in with your username and password. Once that is done you are shown a list of accounts that you can access. Once you highlight an account and tap the refresh button, ParagoMobile downloads the asset data for that account and allows you to select the account. If you do not currently have a connection to the internet you will still be able to sign in with the last successful username and access the account but only if the asset data was up to date.
Once you have selected an account you are presented with a cut down version of the Parago interface. Along the top we have the currently selected asset and your current location within the account. Next, there are the actions you can perform and then the list of sub-assets within the current one.
You can move about the account by tapping on either a sub-asset of the current asset, or of the assets that make up the current location. If you know the name or Asset ID of the asset that you wish to go to you can perform a search by tapping on the search action, represented by a magnifying glass icon. Once you have entered the search term and selected the field to search you can tap search button to find the matching assets and then move to them.
You can also find an asset by tapping the scan action, represented by a barcode icon and scanning its unique barcode. If the barcode has been associated with an asset you will be asked whether you wish to go to the asset or if permitted whether you wish to move the asset to the current location.
By tapping on the edit action, represented by a pencil icon, you will be able to see and edit the asset’s Name, Serial number and Notes. You will also be able to see the barcode associated, if any, with the asset. If you make any changes you will need to save them by tapping the ‘save’ button.
You can associate a barcode with an asset that doesn’t currently have one by going to the asset, tapping the ‘scan action’ and scanning its barcode. If the barcode is not currently associated with an asset you will be given the option of pairing the barcode to the asset you are in. If the type of asset you are currently in permits sub-assets you will also be given the option to add a new asset with the scanned barcode.
Another way of adding an asset is by navigating to the location to which you wish to add it and selecting ‘Add New Asset’ from the menu. This will allow you to scan the barcode of the new asset. Once the barcode is scanned you are required to select the type of asset by tapping the ‘Set Type’ button. The asset type is categorised so, if we enter the ‘Furniture’ category, we can see all the furniture we can add to the current location. Once you have entered the name you must tap ‘Save’ to add the item.
When the changes have been made to the account you must tap the commit action, represented by a disk icon. Once this is done, the changes you have made will be sent to the Parago system and the asset data on the ParagoMobile system is synchronised.
The ParagoMobile system has two feature modes that make managing your assets easier. One allows you to quickly audit a room; the other helps you manage your PAT testing requirements.
To use the audit mode you must navigate to the location that you wish to audit and tap the audit action, represented by a clipboard icon, then confirm that you want to begin the audit. ParagoMobile then shows you all the assets that should be in the current location indicating that they have not currently been found. By tapping on an asset you can indicate that the asset is present. You can also tap the scan button and scan the barcode of an asset. If the asset is in the location being audited then it will be marked ‘found’, if not and it can be made a sub-asset of the location being audited you will be asked if you want to move it here. If the barcode is not associated with an asset you will be asked if you want to create a new asset. Once you have finished the audit tap ‘Done’, complete the audit and commit the changes. Any assets that were not found will be moved to a missing assets container within your account.
To use the PAT testing mode navigate to the location that you wish to audit and tap the PAT testing action, represented by a plug icon. ParagoMobile then shows you all the assets that are in the current location and could be PAT tested. By tapping on the items you can then indicate if the item passed or failed if so give a reason. You can also tap the scan button and scan the barcode of an asset. If the asset is in the location being PAT tested it will be the same as tapping the asset itself, if not and it can be made a sub-asset of the location being PAT testet you will be asked if you want to move it here. If the barcode is not associated with an asset you will be asked if you want to create a new asset. Once you have finished PAT testing the location tap ‘Done’ and commit.
